Dr Hyun Song Shin has been nominated as Governor of Bank of Korea. He spent past 12 years as the top economic adviser at the Bank of International Settlements (BIS). As the BIS Economic Adviser, Dr Shin co-led the Monetary and Economic Department and was part of the Bank's senior management as a member of its Executive Committee.
Dr Shin has a background in academia. Before he took up his current position in May 2014, he was the Hughes-Rogers Professor of Economics at Princeton University, having previously held appointments at Oxford University and the London School of Economics.
